Analysts Believe LiDAR is Required for Large-scale Deployment of Autonomous Vehicles
“Our team analyzed several hundred companies in the process of selecting this year’s Efficient Fifty,” said Joseph Osha, Managing Director at JMP Securities. “It has never been more important for companies to think about using resources efficiently. The impact that human activity is having on our environment is significant and growing. The challenges we face in mitigating that impact are numerous, ranging from reducing transportation-related carbon emissions to developing a more efficient power grid to cutting waste in food production and transportation. Our Efficient Fifty companies represent a very diverse group of industries and business models.”
According to the report, JMP Securities analysts have seen an uptick in investments in sensor technologies that are driving growth in LiDAR technologies and believe “that large-scale deployment of autonomous vehicles cannot happen without LiDAR.”
“Being selected for the Efficient Fifty is a great honor and supports the overwhelmingly positive feedback we’re receiving from customers evaluating our LiDAR solutions,” said Lumotive co-founder and CEO, Dr. William Colleran. “We appreciate JMP’s thorough analysis of opportunities to improve efficiencies with advanced technology, in our case by applying our 3D-sensing solutions to accelerate the disruption underway in the transportation industry.”
Lumotive’s revolutionary LiDAR technology was successfully demonstrated at the CES trade show in Las Vegas this January. The company also received industry recognition with inclusion in Laser Focus World’s “Top 20 Photonics Technologies for 2019” and Built In Seattle’s “Best Small Companies to Work For in 2020.”
Lumotive will be showcasing its LiDAR solution at the Sensor Solutions International Conference being held in Brussels, Belgium from March 31-April 1, 2020.
About Lumotive
Founded in 2018, Lumotive is a leader in solid-state, 3D-sensing systems, developing high-performance solutions for consumer electronics, industrial automation, robotics and autonomous vehicles. The Seattle-based company’s 3D-sensing solutions leverage revolutionary beam steering technology based on patented Liquid Crystal Metasurfaces™ to deliver an unprecedented combination of high performance (as measured by range, resolution and frame rate) and readiness for mass adoption (measured by cost, reliability and size). Lumotive’s beam steering chips enable this unique combination because they are optically large, enabling high performance, and manufactured with mature semiconductor processes, enabling low cost and high reliability. Lumotive’s investors include Bill Gates and Quan Funds. For more information, go to www.lumotive.com or follow us on Twitter @LumotiveLidar.
